Local contractor Jeff Cisco from Laser Electrical Orange sees a need to educate end users and service technicians about natural refrigerants as they become more popular solutions in Australia.
Jeff Cisco, electrical service manager for local Australian contractor Laser Electrical Orange, spoke of the need for further education among the wider HVAC&R industry in Australia of the move towards natural refrigerants.
“The average customer is still unaware of the benefits of natural refrigerants,” suggested Cisco, pointing out that he himself only learned about natural refrigerants when working with them for one of his own customers.
“There’s a need for more education,” Cisco told this website at ARBS (Air Conditioning, Refrigeration Building Services Exhibition) 2018, held in Sydney in May.
“We’re all trying to keep up with technology, and make sure that we move forwards and use the right stuff.”

Sounding a more optimistic note, he argued that the worldwide HFC phasedown taking place in the context of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol would help to raise awareness of natural refrigerants.
“There is a fairly strong push away from products that harm the environment and the education of the general public is increasing,” Cisco said.
“We’re all trying to keep up with technology, and make sure that we move forwards and use the right stuff,” he said.
